Objectives of the CAPDR

  • To assess and monitor the health outcomes of patients with chronic pain using a common minimal data set integrated into day-to-day clinical practices
  • To assist clinicians, managers and decision makers in their efforts to improve the condition of people who live with chronic pain in Canada
  • To assess the impact of changes in care and services on patient outcomes
  • To provide the clinical team with useful administrative and clinical statistics every 6 months
  • To provide pain researchers with a national integrated clinical research infrastructure in which they can access reliable “real-world” data to 1) answer important research questions or test hypotheses regarding various aspects of chronic pain (or specific pain syndromes) and its management, 2) assess study feasibility, and 3) facilitate and speed up patient recruitment in large research projects, clinical trials, or other types of studies aiming at predicting patients’ prognosis and improving chronic pain management
